PBS – The Millars Well Way
You will hear our staff and students talk a lot about PBS in and around our learning spaces at school. PBS stands for Positive Behaviour Support and is our school-wide approach for teaching positive behaviour expectations. Our PBS values of Respect, Care, Responsibility and Excellence are each represented by our Pilbara native plant mascots: Spinifex Rex, Mulla Mindy, Desert Pea Doug and Bush Lolly Polly.
Expectations are displayed in our PBS matrix, which helps guide our students to understand the expected behaviours at Millars Well Primary and within our broader school community.
Each fortnight our school focuses on a selected expectation which is explicitly taught in class. Students shown to be displaying our school values receive individual “Millars Medals”. These tokens work towards overall faction targets and are used in individual class recognition systems. We celebrate success in this area every term by coming together to enjoy our PBS Reward Days. We encourage parents and caregivers to attend our PBS reward events where together we can build positive relationships and enjoy shared values and active participation in our school community.
